A man who was known as a liar is dying. All the neighbors gathered at his deathbed.
The landlord said,
Landlord: You’ve been known as a liar all your life. Why don’t you become honest in your last moments?
Liar: Yes, that’s right. Sorry to have bothered you because of my lies.
I’ve buried a small box beneath the floor. There’s some money in it. Please dig it up after I die, and share it among yourselves.
When he died, the neighbors dug it up.
Man: (Opening the box)
Oh, there’s no money inside. Only a slip of paper. What does it say?
(Looking at the slip)
“This is my last lie.”
