After graduating from university, I worked for the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for several years. Later, I studied theater in the United States, and upon returning to Japan, I became deeply immersed in the world of English education and English rakugo (traditional Japanese comic storytelling). My English training was honed under Masao Kunihiro, who was in charge of the NHK television English program "Talk Show."

Regarding rakugo, I was enrolled in the general course of the Tachikawa-ryu school for several years after its founding by Tachikawa Danshi in 1983. This led me to open a rakugo class for the general public in 1991, and then an English rakugo class in 2007. My group name is Kanariya, whose kanji characters reflect my desire to embody the pioneering spirit of the Rokumeikan (a famous Western-style building in the Meiji era).

Currently, I perform English rakugo and conduct English rakugo seminars both domestically and internationally. I began performing overseas in 2015, and have visited the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Finland, Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Laos.

To date, I have translated over 100 rakugo stories into English and performed over 90 rakugo stories in English. These scripts are published in a trilogy titled "Eiraku's 100 English Rakugo Scripts Vol. 1, 2, 3".
