Kanariya Ichirin

She has been performing Rakugo for more than 15 years, bringing the humor and warmth of this traditional Japanese storytelling art to audiences in Japan and overseas.

She studied classical Japanese Rakugo under professional Rakugo masters, such as Katura Bunjyaku, Kingentei Ryoma, and Kingentei Kokoma, and English Rakugo under Kanariya Eiraku. Her current repertoire includes 21 traditional Japanese stories and 30 stories in English. She also performs Tamasudare, a traditional Japanese bamboo-screen performance, and holds the rank of Natori in the Shirato School.

Since 2015, Ichirin has performed internationally in the United States, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Finland, Korea, Georgia, Austria, and Denmark. She also organizes and performs at English Rakugo events in Japan, as well as programs for companies, universities, and other organizations.

Masako Uehara: She holds a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics and English Education from King's College London. She is a lecturer at Waseda University.
